In local community Stavros of Farsala the post-Byzantine church of the 18th century Panagia Demerliotissa is situated. The nickname of the church is due to the Turkish name of the village of Stavros, who was Demerli.

As an inscription  located above the south entrance of the temple informs us, the church is built in 1778 and it was painted eight years later, in 1786 at the expense of pious Christians, with the assistance of "Reverend Father-Rizos, priest Athanasios and Gerapostolis of Piklin Ntaoutis guardian, under the command of Metropolite Meletios C ' of Larissa.

The hagiography was done by students of the great painter and scholar of Byzantine iconography, Dennis of Fourna Euritanias. The wall paintings are arranged in three zones.

The woodcut iconostasis is Pelion style and resembles the one situated in the temple of Venetos' Ypapanti.

The temple houses the sacred, miraculous icon of Virgin Mary "Demerliotissa" sized 0,64 X 0,48 m. Information about the origin of the icon are nonexistent. As with many other Virgin Mary's icons, so "Panagia Demerliotissa" is legendary rumored by the Holy Tradition to having been painted by the Apostle and Evangelist Luke. Stylistically, the picture is similar to that of "Panagia of Tenos".

The temple has a series of newer alterations.
